Race Update

December 28, 2018

We have a brilliant update from Ian Couch, head safety officer from Atlantic Campaigns.

Read the full report on the Atlantic Campaigns page but here’s what he’s written about our girls:

ASTRO TO ATLANTIC.

69 miles in 24 hours.

Distance from next boat 3 miles.

As well as Christmas celebrations the crew have celebrated a birthday. The crew and boat are well and are making good speed. Being one of the more northern crews when the low pressure passed they were held up more than some of their competitors and are now looking to recover the miles. Morale still seems good. An accidental activation of their EPIRB saw the DOs in conversation with three different Marine Rescue Coordination Centres verifying all was ok. Though it is always unsettling to get a call from them it is a great example of how incredibly well covered the crews are with rescue provision.

So great to be able to have an update from a very experienced man. And it’s great to see the girls really picking up speed on the yellow brick app!
